Whether you’ve got a garden, a deck, a terrace or just a balcony, it’s easy to turn that space into a gorgeous outdoor room perfect for relaxing or entertaining in. All you need is a bit of imagination. And Selina Lake.
We love Selina Lake – she is one of the country’s foremost interiors stylists, with five books under her belt and a wealth of magazine and newspaper experience. Outdoor Living, her latest book, is stuffed with original ideas on how to make the very most of the great outdoors. Stylish picnics, memorable BBQs and glorious summer fetes are just the tip of the iceberg. There’s even loads of advice on how to transform the most mundane of nooks and crannies into romantic bowers.
And it’s not expensive. For example, take three long wooden poles, a bunch of flowers and a couple of old, flowered sheets and, abracadabra, you’ve got a dreamy tepee perfect for lazing away a Sunday afternoon while the rest of the family is glued to the TV watching the World Cup!
You can meet Selina Lake in person when she comes to our Elderflower Festival at Belvoir Castle on July 13th where she will be signing her book and doing a series of styling demos. We’re also supporting her book tour around the country with lots of refreshing drinks.
Keep spinning on this month’s Lovely o’ Clock and you could win a copy of Outdoor Living. However, if you you’re not lucky this time round, you can find the book on amazon.
Outdoor Living is published by Ryland, Peters & Small, £19.99; photography by Debi Treloar.
