Thirsty Elderflower welcomes rain!

The Easter bank holiday saw us in shirt sleeves scoffing melting chocolate in the sunshine; by contrast, but a week later, the May bank holiday saw us popping up brollies and donning raincoats. Though warmer more settled weather is again forecast our Elderflower plantations are understandably confused by the recent temperature variations and lack of moisture.

Low pressure and associated frontal systems have brought unsettled and unseasonal weather over the past few weeks, however this weeks rain has been welcome, especially in our more recently established plantations, and we hope Elderflower development catches up soon.

Whilst our more productive Elder bushes have good flower coverage in bud, most have only a couple of heads in full flower and are cautiously awaiting warmth and moisture before flourishing. As a result we don’t expect to be taking in flower at our drop off stations before the end of the month. We’ll continue to keep you updated here and you can also call our Elderflower Manager Andrea on 07935 901408 with any related questions.
